What’s Weligama Like?

Weligama, meaning ‘sandy village’, is the beating heart of the south coast of Sri Lanka. Whether you’re a newbie or expert surfer, or keen to hop on a train for a quick getaway to the mountains, Weligama is known for its long, golden beaches, and ideal waves for surfers of all levels.

Along with being a surfer’s paradise, the bay is also a prime location for snorkeling and diving experiences. Take a sunset walk along the beach and discover eateries, cafes, and plenty of local boutiques in a vibrant atmosphere. Weligama Bay is the newest hotspot in Sri Lanka to live, work, and meet fellow travelers and digital nomads.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a visa to enter Sri Lanka?

Yes, a travel visa is required for arrival. You can start the quick process here

What is the best way to get around Weligama Coliving?

There is no public transportation in Weligama, so we recommend you rent a scooter to get around. If you’re comfortable riding them, we can help you rent one when you arrive. Alternatively, we can help arrange an affordable Tuk-Tuk or Taxi for you too.

Can I surf at Outpost Weligama? Do you have boards for rent?

The Weligama beach break is a perfect wave for beginners, while nearby spots have more intermediate or even advanced surfers! There are plenty of surf schools to choose from along the south coast, many of them located nearby Outpost. We can help connect you with one to rent a surf board and take lessons.

How can I connect with other Weligama Coliving members?

Connection is one of our core values. Along with all the weekly events that we host in our spaces, we have a very active online community on our Outpost Member Hub and social media channels. You’ll be automatically invited to our Member Hub after purchasing a cowork pass or booking your colive in Weligama.

Are pets allowed in Weligama Coliving?

Unfortunately, we do not allow pets in our Weligama coliving rooms at this time. Although we’d love to see your furry friend, we try to respect the allergies of our members in the shared coliving.

Do you have hot water in Weligama Coliving?

Yes, we have hot water in all of the rooms of our Weligama coliving.

What type of events does Outpost Weligama coliving and coworking spaces hold?

We hold many events each month in Weligama, from hands-on workshops, to yoga classes and rooftop parties. Our events are meant to help you learn something new, grow and connect with the Outpost community.

Do I get access to your cowork with my colive booking?

When you book with us, you’re able to purchase a cowork pass add-on at a discounted members-only rate. This pass gives you unlimited access to our cowork spaces, but does not include any private booth hours or meeting room discounts. If you’d like, you can purchase additional private booth hours or meeting room access upon check-in at the host desk.

How fast is the wifi speed in Outpost coworking spaces?

Our Bali workspaces have a 200mb/s shared ISP bandwidth and a dedicated 200mb/s line with different providers to ensure consistency even if one line goes out. In our Weligama property, we have 300mbps shared bandwidth from multiple providers to ensure availability and on-site generator in case there are any power cuts. All of our coworking spaces use top of the line routers with industry-standard load balancing to provide additional stability for meetings, calls or streaming.

What happens if the power goes out?

While we wish we could control this, sometimes things happen. We have a backup generator to avoid interrupting your flow. If lighting were to strike even the backup power generator, we have a back up to our back-up. When the power goes out in the area, Outpost stands out as one of the few places with the lights still on.
