What’s Ubud Penestanan Like?

Known as an artist’s village since the 1930s, Penestanan is home to vast tracts of rice fields, tranquil back streets, and a wide array of cafes. With a slightly higher elevation, some spots offer spectacular views of Bali’s tallest and most sacred volcano, Mount Agung. Just a three-minute ride to the center of town, it’s one of Ubud’s most accessible traveler hubs.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best way to get around Ubud Penestanan coliving?

There is no public transportation in Bali, so we recommend you rent a scooter to get around Penestanan. If you’re comfortable riding them, we can help you rent one when you arrive. Alternatively, Grab (the ‘Uber’ of Asia) is widely popular here, along with affordable taxis for hire.

What is the difference between Coliving in Canggu and Coliving in Ubud?

If you’re looking for surf spots or beach life, Canggu is the place for you. Located on the west coast of the island, Canggu has a vibrant nightlife scene with many popular bars, hip restaurants and beach clubs. We find it’s quickly becoming one of the busiest areas on the island, so if you’re looking for a place to socialize, head to Canggu.

As you might have guessed, Ubud is more laid back with plenty of lush rice paddies and green forests. Located in the center of the island, Ubud is known as the cultural and wellness hub of Bali. Here you can find plenty of yoga spots, retreats, spas and many raw or vegan dining outlets. Head to Ubud if you’re looking for a more relaxed pace of life with plenty of nature and culture to soak up.

What’s the difference between your 3 Ubud Coliving locations?

Ubud Penestanan is where coworking and coliving sit under the same roof. Outpost Ubud is our original coliving property with a separate coworking – where it all began in 2016. We like to think of it as our headquarters now. The newest spot in town is our Outpost Ubud Bungalows with 10 private Balinese-style bungalow rooms, located just a 6 minute walk from our coworking HQ.

How can I connect with other Ubud Penestanan Coliving members?

Connection is one of our core values. Along with all the weekly events that we host in our spaces, we have a very active online community on our Outpost Member Hub and social media channels. You’ll be automatically invited to our Member Hub after purchasing a cowork pass or booking your colive in Penestanan.

Are pets allowed in Ubud Penestanan Coliving?

Unfortunately, we do not allow pets in our Ubud Penestanan coliving rooms at this time. Although we’d love to see your furry friend, we try to respect the allergies of our members in the shared coliving.

Do you have hot water in Ubud Penestanan Coliving?

Yes, we have hot water in all of the rooms of our Penestanan coliving.

What type of events does Outpost Ubud Penestanan coliving and coworking spaces hold?

We hold many events throughout the week at each location, from hands-on workshops, to yoga classes and cocktail mixers. Our events are meant to help you learn something new, grow and connect with the Outpost community. We also hold monthly events such as our famous First Friday Party to adventures like climbing Mount Batur or going island hopping in Nusa Penida.

Do I get access to your cowork with my colive booking?

When you book with us, you’re able to purchase a cowork pass add-on at a discounted members-only rate. This pass gives you unlimited access to our cowork spaces, but does not include any private booth hours or meeting room discounts. If you’d like, you can purchase additional private booth hours or meeting room access upon check-in at the host desk.

How can I enter Bali?

If you are from one of the eligible countries, you can get a Visa on Arrival (VOA) at Bali’s International Airport or apply for an E-VOA (Electronic Visa on Arrival) before your arrival. The visa will cost 500,000 IDR or approximately 35 USD and is valid for 30 days (extendable once for another 30 days).

If you’re looking to stay long term in Bali, we would suggest to apply for a Business Visa through an official visa agency. The entire process might take 5-6 days in total and agents usually charge between $300 – $400 per visa application. If you’re an Outpost member who has purchased a cowork pass or booked a room with us, you can get 10% visa services from LegalLegends Bali.

Starting from February 14th, 2024, the Bali Government has implemented a new tourist fee of 150,000 IDR for all foreign tourists visiting on tourist visas, Visa On Arrival (VOA), or electronic Visa on Arrival (eVOA). You can pay the fee before arrival through the official “Love Bali” website or App. Exceptions are for those entering on visas that are not tourist visas.
